What to expect

Initial free consultation: (15mins) I will be happy to provide a free consultation via phone or Zoom to discuss your concerns and questions, which will be a sample of how therapy typically works.

Initial appointment

Unlike many therapists who work with forms and paperwork, I like to invite you to therapy to discuss what's on your mind and decide what to share and what not to share.

When you arrive at the office, our receptionist will let you in the building and guide you to my office. There is a waiting area on the first floor next to the reception if you arrive early.

Our session is 45 mins, the same as other sessions. You may choose teletherapy or in-person treatment if you are in New York State.

Future Sessions:

After the initial appointment, if you remain interested in treatment, our sessions will be 45 minutes. We will develop a treatment plan that works for you, and adjustments can be made throughout the treatment. We will work together towards your treatment goal(s).

Frequency of the session:

For treatment to be most effective, you need to come in at least once a week, on a regular day and time.  In many cases, clients choose to come in for therapy twice or three times per week. It would be beneficial for the therapist and clients to explore what frequency would be best for the client.

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist with advanced training in psychoanalysis, I can provide you with the opportunity to:

  • Know yourself better and deeper with personal growth

  • Understand what you truly want, and what stops you from getting what you want, and eventually decide if you want to change

  • Understand sex, gender, immigration issues, and culture impact your personal life

  • Improve your relationship with others

  • Gain the ability to understand and tolerate difficult feelings like fear, anger, guilt, envy etc.

  • Understand intergenerational trauma and its impact on you

  • improve your self-esteem and confidence

We will work towards emotional understanding and healing, as well as growth and development, so that you can achieve a more satisfying life. As a therapist, I will listen to your feelings, thoughts, and anything you would like to say on your mind. I will draw on the techniques and theories and pay attention to my feelings as clues to understanding you. This is a collaborative process that requires the client and therapist to work together.
